With March upon us, it’s almost spring cleaning time again. Maybe you haven’t done spring cleaning in quite some time, but now is the chance to get started on one. Read on to find out more.
Spring Cleaning and a Roll-Off Dumpster
If you will perform a significant cleanout of your house this spring, then you need a roll-off dumpster. We will bring it to your driveway or yard and pick it up when you fill it. You don’t have to waste time going to the landfill yourself.
Make sure that you order the roll-off dumpster of the correct size. A ten-yard dumpster may be enough if you have a standard two- to three-bedroom home. A twenty-yard or larger dumpster may be required if you have a larger house.
Inside or Outside?
You may ask, “Where should I start, inside the house or outside in the yard?” The answer is either; it all depends on whether the interior of your house or your yard needs the spring cleaning the most. You may want to clear your yard first if you live in a warmer climate. Removing junk and old lawn furniture from your yard without having to break every ten minutes due to the heat is a welcome respite from the spring and summer months. Check the shingles on your roof to ensure that none are warped or damaged and need replacement. Dispose of all the old shingles from your roof in your rental dumpster. Check to make sure the siding on your home is in good shape. If the siding is defective, it can be replaced with energy-saving siding. Remove items such as damaged birdbaths, old toys, and pieces of scrap that a lawnmower could strike. Look for anything that could be a tripping hazard, such as a garden hose across a walkway or an old tricycle peeking out of a bush. Smooth and replenish stone paths.
Out With the Old
Once your yard cleanup is finished, it’s time to move to your home’s interior. Old dingy furniture that has seen better days and is a nursery for dust mites and pet dander should be thrown out to improve the inside air quality of your home (and to improve aesthetics). To declutter your home, throw out any unwanted or damaged exercise equipment, lamps, or junk. You should also clean out closets of unwanted clothes and accumulated junk: empty cabinets, drawers, and the kitchen pantry of expired junk and canned food. Replace it with new canned goods for times such as a sandstorm when diving to a grocery store becomes hazardous. Clean out your attic and basement to create additional storage space or a new room. Perform a secondary sweep of the inside and outside of the house to ensure no problems have been overlooked and that all items to be disposed of have been thrown in the dumpster.
